The Vita-Salute San Raffaele University runs top-scored graduate and post-graduate, programs in Medicine and Biotechnology. The Institute ranks among the leading research centers in Europe and at the top in Italy.
Institute of Gene Therapy (HSR-TIGET), which is a joint venture with the Telethon Foundation and located within a Ospedale San Raffaele Biotechnology Park, has continuously contributed to advance the field of gene therapy with important discoveries in vector design, gene transfer strategies, biology of genetically modified cells, pathophysiology of genetic diseases and with implementation of gene therapy trials.
Prof. Luigi Naldini, MD, PhD (Principal Investigator) is Full Professor of Tissue Biology and Gene and Cell Therapy at the Vita Salute San Raffaele University, School of Medicine, Director of the Division of Regenerative Medicine, Stem Cells and Gene Therapy at the OSR, and Director of HSR-TIGET, Milan, Italy. He is President of the European Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ESGCT), Member of the Advisory Board of the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ASGCT), elected member of EMBO and is a world recognized expert on gene transfer and therapy. He will be responsible for the coordination of the whole project.
